1. TRAINING

While buying a commercial truck on sale commercial drivers must undergo a strict training regimen under the supervision of a government approved instructor. Both practical training and classroom instruction must be done to ensure that the candidate is well-prepared.

2. MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD

A person must be 18 years of age at least to drive legally and the preferred age range for AZ drivers is over 25 years old since anything younger than that can result in higher insurance premiums. If you are between 18 years and 25 years old, you may have a harder time getting a trucking job despite your credentials since your insurance will be more expensive.

3. CLEAN DRIVING RECORD

Having a clean driving record is one of the most important factors of getting your AZ Commercial driving license. Few offences like driving under the influence or having a high volume of moving vehicle offences can make it much harder to gain it. One must be careful while driving as one’s driving history in Canada matters a lot even while getting a job.

4. PASS YOUR MEDICAL AND VISION EXAMS

In Ontario, drivers are required to submit a passing medical exam before any testing at a Drive Test center. This means that you need to pick up a medical exam form from a Drive Test center and have it completed by a medical professional before taking your knowledge test.

There are a few things you need to do to complete this step:

  • Book an appointment with a physician or a nurse practitioner.
  • Complete the medical examination form to hand in with your application

If you are a driver below the age of 46, you are required to produce a medical report every 5 years. A report every three years if you are between 46 and 64 years old. Drivers aged 65 and above are required to hand in a medical report once a year. Your medical exam appointment should cost you anywhere between $50 and $150 depending on what your practitioner charges.

5. PASS YOUR WRITTEN KNOWLEDGE TEST

All drivers are expected to undergo a written test on operating the vehicles in the class in which they wish to have a license. Failing the test twice may cause the driver to be disallowed from taking it again for up to one year. It includes things like laws, regulations, safety requirements, technicalities, and knowledge that is required to be able to safely operate a commercial vehicle. In total, you’ll have to pay around $275.The written knowledge test is multiple choice and largely based on the handbooks created by the Ontario administration of transportation. The test takes about 30 minutes to complete.
